FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION PIANO MASTERCLASSES 25.09.2009
MONDAY OCTOBER 12TH – SATURDAY OCTOBER 17TH., 2009. PAUL CROSSLEY. This is a unique opportunity for the public to attend Piano Masterclasses given by the world renowned English pianist. These Masterclasses will take place each day between 1000 and 1200 and 1400 and 1600 and are free to the public. Seven advanced Portuguese piano students have been selected in collaboration with various music schools and conservatories in Lisbon, Faro and Evora to work with Paul Crossley on pieces of their own choosing from a repertoire of 19th. Century piano music.
The Masterclasses are free to the students and these are made possible by the generous support of the Foundation “Mundo Crastino Meliori” and Paul Crossley as well as the Centro Cultural São Lourenço and the AMIGOS.
On Wednesday October 14th and Saturday October 17th there will be concerts by the students. These will start at 7.30pm sharp with doors open at 7.00pm and canapés and wine and soft drinks will be served. These concerts are free to AMIGOS but non-members will be charged €25 per person.
The Wednesday concert will feature:
Olesya Kyba Age 25 The Escola Superior de Musica, Lisboa
Rafael Azevedo Age 17 Private student of Pedro Ferro
Pedro Ferro Age 30 Teacher at Conservatoria of Tomar & Setubal and an established concert pianist who has played at the Cultural Center.
The Saturday concert will feature:
Julia Azevedo Age 14 Conservatorium Maria Campina, Faro
Alena Khmelinskaia Age 18 Conservatorium Maria Campina, Faro
Claudia Silva Age 23 University of Evora
Antonio Pedro Cebola Age 24 University of Evora

ABOUT THE AMIGOS AND THE CULTURAL CENTER
The Cultural Center is located next to the historic Church of São Lourenço, near Almancil, which is famous for its remarkable Azulejos or tiles. The Cultural Center, which recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary, holds regular exhibitions by well known artists and sculptors. The AMIGOS is an international group of around 100 members who support the musical activities at the Cultural Center by underwriting the concerts which are regularly performed there. The Cultural Center and the AMIGOS welcomes everybody to their concerts but reservations are essential. There are also some vacancies for new AMIGOS.
